Jeff Morris, Extension Swine Outreach Specialist
Jeff Morris serves as a Swine Outreach Specialist with the University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Extension. Jeff works with producers of all sizes to provide research-based education and practical solutions that strengthen herd health, productivity, and long-term success.

Jeff is committed to serving Wisconsin’s pork industry. His efforts center on foreign animal disease preparedness, biosecurity, and improving overall herd health and reproductive efficiency. He also works closely with producers to adopt best practices that support healthier animals and more resilient operations.
One of the aspects Jeff values most about his role is the opportunity to work directly alongside producers and help solve real-world problems. Whether he is leading workshops, sharing best management practices, or responding to emerging animal health concerns, he is focused on practical solutions that producers can implement right away.
“I like to say I’m here to serve the swine producers of Wisconsin,” Jeff said. “It doesn’t matter if you have one pig or a million pigs, you’re important to me, and helping you succeed is what matters most.”
Jeff is especially engaged in producer education efforts across the state, including events such as Corn Soy Expo and the Show Pig Symposium at UW–Madison Arlington. These programs bring together commercial producers, youth exhibitors, and breeders to share knowledge and strengthen connections within the industry.
One example of Jeff’s impact comes from a reproduction workshop where experts challenged traditional assumptions about semen handling in artificial insemination. While many producers were initially skeptical, changes in management practices over time led to measurable improvements in conception rates and litter size.
“Most of the room didn’t believe it at first,” Jeff said. “But over time, those who adopted the practice saw real improvements in herd performance.”
For Jeff, the work is more than a career; it’s a lifelong passion rooted in experience. Growing up on a family farm and raising pigs from a young age, he continues to stay closely connected to the industry both professionally and personally.
“I’ve been involved with pigs for most of my life,” Jeff said. “It’s what I do, and it’s what I love.”
